KARACHI: Two persons commit suicide

KARACHI, March 6: A young man and a young girl committed suicide in the city on Thursday.

A young girl committed suicide at her house in Liaquatabad. The police said Dina, aged 18, daughter of Latif Ahmed, hanged herself from a ceiling fan at her house.

Quoting the family, the police said the girl became dejected after her marriage proposal was turned down by the other side.

The body was sent to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem.

A young man shot himself dead in Soldier Bazaar.

The police said Saleem Jahangir, aged 21, shot himself in the temple with his father’s pistol in his apartment at Marium Centre building in Garden West. He committed suicide due to domestic problems.

The body was sent to Civil Hospital for post-mortem.

ROAD ACCIDENT: An employee of Karachi University died in a road accident on main University Road late Wednesday night.

The police said Mohammed Sami, aged 45, was returning home when he was hit by a speeding motorcycle near the Silver Jubilee Gate.

The motorcyclist took Sami to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he died. The motorcyclist disappeared from the hospital.

The police claimed to have impounded the motorcycle (LHU-9947) from the place of the accident.

Sami was resident of Liaquatabad and worked at the Karachi University.

SHOT DEAD: A young man was found murdered in Quaidabad on Thursday morning.

The police said an unidentified young man, who was in his early 20s, was found murdered in Gulshan-i-Unair. The body was trussed up and there was a bullet injury in the chest.

The body was sent to JPMC for post-mortem.

INJURED: Five workers of a dyeing factory suffered serious burns while at work in SITE on Wednesday.

A boiler at a dyeing factory exploded injuring five workers, Master Aijaz, Zulfiqar, Irfan, Munir and Iqbal.

The injured workers were rushed to a private hospital in SITE, but the hospital administration refused to admit them, saying they could not handle such serious cases.

Later, the injured were taken to another private hospital in Block 4-A of Gulshan-i-Iqbal.

THEFTS: A vehicle loaded with medical supplies was stolen in Sharifabad early Thursday morning.

The police said a vehicle (KG-5762) loaded with medical supplies was stolen by two unknown persons in Federal Capital Area.

A computer shop was burgled in the police limits of Mubina Town late Wednesday night.
