KARACHI: Students get medals


KARACHI, March 5: Education Minister Irfanullah Khan Marwat has said that the provincial government is trying to provide better environment to the students.

He expressed these views while speaking at the prize distribution ceremony at Government Delhi College, F.B. Area, on Wednesday.

He distributed medals, shields and cash prizes among 43 position holders, out of whom two student were given gold medals and Rs25,000 each for securing A-1 grade while 43 students were given Rs1,000 each for showing excellent performance.

The minister on the occasion, directed EDO Anwar Ahmedzai to negotiate with the owners of the college building and present him the report. Referring to the dearth of teaching staff he said that when the ban on employment would be lifted more teachers would be appointed in the college.

Earlier, the principal of the college, Professor Ikram, apprising the minister of the problems said that the owners of the college building wanted to have it vacated, but it was very difficult to quit it as more than 3,500 students were studying in the institution.

He said that the college was also facing paucity of teaching staff.—PPI
