DHAKA, March 3: Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCC) will soon set up a two-member inquiry committee to find reasons behind the team’s dismal performance in the World Cup in southern Africa, says BCC president Ali Asghar Loby.
“A two-man committee comprising a retired bureaucrat and a retired army officer, having good knowledge about cricket, will be assigned to find out reasons behind such performance,” a Dhaka based Bangla-language national daily has quoted Loby as saying on Tuesday. “The probe body will talk to everyone including players, coach, managers and myself.”
The BCB chairman, whose resignation was demanded during a recent demonstration in Dhaka, reportedly said that he was “ready to resign, if it helps improve the country’s cricket”.
The BCB boss, however, hinted that the team’s Pakistani coach, Mohsin Kamal,as well as other officials concerned would be fired. “We don’t need them. We want someone who can produce results.”
Bangladesh, who were given Test status in 2000, failed to win any of the half a dozen matches they played in the World Cup.
