Oil struck in Sindh

ISLAMABAD, March 3: Orient Petroleum Inc and its joint venture partners announced on Monday the successful production testing of Naimat Basal-1 well in Khipro block in the Sindh province.

A press release issued by the company said the well flowed 27 mmcfd of gas with 418 barrels of condensate at a fixed choke of 44/64 inch with a well head flowing pressure of 3103 psig. The calorific value of gas is 1020 btu per cubic feet.

Besides OPI, the JV comprised BowEnergy Resources, Zaver Petroleum and Government Holdings. OPI is the operator of the Mirpur Khas and Khipro Exploration blocks and three producing fields in North including Dhurnal, Ratana and Soan.

The discovery will have an immediate impact on country’s oil import bill and save $45 million per annum.
