KARACHI: Resolution on Thal canal termed unsatisfactory
KARACHI, March 1: The Chairman, Sindh National Front, Mumtaz Ali Bhutto, has said that the resolution passed by the Sindh Assembly against the construction of Thal Canal is half-effective.
Talking to various delegations and office-bearers of the Pakistan National League at his residence here, he said the first part of the resolution which says that the construction of Thal Canal be stopped is a correct demand.
The second portion — this matter be referred to the Council of Common Interests — is useless, because the meeting of the council would not be held.
He said that all the governments in the past had been afraid of the council and had not allowed it to meet. He said the federal government had taken no notice of the resolutions passed by provinces.
The assemblies of Sindh, Balochistan and the Frontier had repeatedly passed resolutions against the construction of Kalabagh dam but to no avail, he added.—PPI
