Assistant to AJK PM sworn in

MUZAFFARABAD, Feb 22: AJK Prime Minister Sardar Sikandar Hayat Khan on Saturday administered oath to his special assistant on information and political affairs, Raja Farooq Haider Khan.

Mr Haider, a close aide and confidant of the premier, had lost to opposition’s Sahibzada Ishaq Zafar in the last AJK elections. However, the premier appointed him Chairman Implementation and Inspection Commission. On Friday, he was elevated to the office of special assistant with the status of minister.

Meanwhile, Sardar Mohammad Altaf Khan, a ruling party leader from district Sudhnoti, was appointed on Saturday as Chairman Implementation and Inspection Commission.

PAC: Sardar Tahir Anwar Khan MLA has been elected as the new Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee while Raja Mohammad Sabeel Khan MLA has been appointed Chairman, Privileges Committee, say two separate notifications issued by the legislative assembly secretariat on Saturday.

Both offices had fallen vacant due to the resignation of Chaudhry Tariq Farooq and Raja Abdul Qayyum Khan, respectively, who were inducted in the Azad Kashmir cabinet on Friday.
