ISLAMABAD, Feb 15: National Anti Corruption Strategy (NACS) and the annual report of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) will be made public within two weeks, an NAB official said.

Speaking to Dawn on Saturday, he said the strategy would be made public before the end of February while NAB’s last year report would be released in the first week of March.

The report on last year’s performance of the NAB, he said, would be presented before parliament, but the National Anti Corruption Strategy would be sent to the federal and provincial cabinets.

According to the NAB, under the strategy, devised to combat corruption in all government departments, network and powers of the bureau would be enhanced.

Replying to a query, the official said the National Anti Corruption Strategy would not be sent to the parliament because it was not about any thing new in the NAB’s policy, but it was about implementation.

Under the strategy, all the government projects of over Rs500 million will be sent to the NAB for approval.

When asked if the NACS would harm the provincial autonomy in the country, the NAB official answered in negative and said that it would be implemented with the consent of the provinces.

“However, there must be some hurdles in its imple-mentation at provincial level,” he said.
