FAISALABAD, Feb 15: A woman along with her minor daughter drowned on Saturday when her husband pushed them into the canal in Chak 164-RB in the limits of Chak Jhumra police station.

Iqbal Ahmed suspected that his wife Nasreen Bibi had relations with other people. Under some pretext, he took his wife and daughter Iqra (3) to the canal and pushed them into it. After receiving information, the police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies from the canal.

Police have arrested the accused and are investigating.

Meanwhile, two men — Mubashar and Arif — allegedly shot dead a youth, Muhammad Pervez, over a marriage issue in Chak 144-RB.

LAUNCHED: Special teams of the Tehsil Municipal Administration (city) on Saturday started disposing of remains of sacrificial animals throughout the city.

This was claimed by TMA (city) spokesman while talking to newsmen here on Saturday.

He said that commercial and residential areas were divided into north and south zones for the quick disposal of remains of sacrificial animals.

Special complaint centres had also been set up in all the union councils of the city where the TMA staff along with the elected representatives would resolve the complaints of people regarding cleanliness, he said.

The monitoring and controlling centres were set up on Satiana Road, Sheikhupura Road, Karkhana Bazaar, Jhang Road and Ghulam Muhammadabad, he added.

EXAMINATIONS: Arrangements for separate examinations of 9th and 10th classes under the Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education for the first time in the history of the province are in the final stage.

Previously, the examination of 9th class was arranged by the high schools on their own, but from this year the examination would be conducted under the direct command of the BISEs.

In Faisalabad, 85,987 candidates will appear in the 10th class examination while 82,933 in the 9th class. The examinations will start from March 1.

The Faisalabad BISE has announced that it will set up 327 examination centres for 168,920 candidates in Faisalabad, Jhang and Toba Tek Singh districts.
