GUJRANWALA, Feb 5: Seminars were arranged and processions were brought out throughout the Punjab on Wednesday to express solidarity with the people of held Jammu and Kashmir.

In Gujranwala, almost all bazaars and markets remained closed. A big rally led by provincial Food Minister Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal, district Nazim Fiaz Ahmad Chattha and other religious leaders was taken out from the General Bus Stand to Gondlanwala Chowk.

The second rally was led by city Nazim Babu Javed Ahmad and Saddar Tehsil Nazim Mubasher Ahmed Cheema from Sheranwala Bagh to Railway Station.

The participants carrying banners and placards chanted slogans against India for committing human right violations in held Kashmir. The speakers, including the provincial minister and Nazimeen, strongly condemned Indian aggression on innocent Kashmiris and humiliating women.

They demanded that the world powers and security council should provide an opportunity to the Kashmiri people to exercise their right of self-determination in accordance with the UN resolutions.

Rallies and meetings were also held in almost all cities and towns of the district.

OKARA: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal and ARD jointly held a gathering in Gole Chowk.

Speaking on the occasion, MMA district president Capt (retired) Liaquat Ali Kausar said the independence of held Kashmir was of vital importance for the whole nation.

A rally taken out from the Tehsil Council Hall to Press Club Chowk was led by DCO Khalid Masood Chaudhry, district Naib Nazim Syed Abbas Raza Rizvi and tehsil Nazim Nadeem Abbas Rubera.

Carrying placards, the participants shouted slogans against the Indian government for perpetrating atrocities against the Kashmiri people. They also burnt the effigy of the Indian prime minister.

PML-N leader Mian Muhammad Munir, MMA’s Maulana Abdul Mannan Usmani, Syed Ghazanfar Ali Naqvi, Izharul Haq Toor and Farooq Sheikh also spoke on the occasion.

BAHAWALPUR: Seminars and rallies were a part of the Kashmir solidarity day celebrations in almost all towns of the Bahawalpur district.

In Bahawalpur, the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal brought out a rally from the Farid Gate. It was led by MMA’s deputy parliamentary leader in the Punjab assembly, Dr Syed Waseem Akhtar.

Holding banners and placards inscribed with the slogans against India and the UN, the participants demanded plebiscite in the held Kashmir.

At Farid Gate, MMA leaders, including JI secretary-general Dr Khalid Iqbal, spoke the participants. The rally took a round of the Circular Road and terminated at Fawwara Chowk.

A solidarity seminar was also held here which was addressed by Dr Syed Waseem Akhtar and others.

A local college also organized a rally from Satellite Town to Farid Gate. Islamia University Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Munir Akhtar will preside over a seminar on Thursday (today) at Baghdadul Jadid’s science auditorium.

Special functions were also arranged in a number of schools where students highlighted the significance of the day.

KASUR: Special prayers were offered for the freedom of Kashmir and end to the miseries of innocent people at the hands of Indian troops.

A rally was brought out from the Committee Chowk and terminated at the shrine of Hazrat Baba Bulleh Shah after parading through different bazaars and streets.

Speaking to the participants, district Nazim Rana Imtiaz Ahmad Khan said the moral and diplomatic support for the freedom fighters of Kashmir would continue. The people from all walks of life participated in the rally.

TOBA TEK SINGH: Three different processions were taken out to show solidarity with Kashmiris.

A procession was brought out under the auspices of the tehsil municipal administration which culminated at the tehsil council offices. The procession was Led by provincial Forest and Fisheries Minister Dr Ashfaqur Rehman, district Nazim Chaudhry Muhammad Ashfaq, DCO Salim Akhtar Kiani, minority leader Aftab James Paul and tehsil and union council Nazimeen and councillors.

Rallies were also taken out by the Jamaat-i-Islami and labour organizations which ended at Saddar Bazaar Chowk.

JI leader Dr Zahid Sattar, PPP’s Safdar Nasir advocate, labour’s Shaukat Ali and minority leader Fr Bonnie Mendes condemned the aggression of Indian armed forces on innocent Kashmiri Muslims.

They also urged the Muslim countries to unite on one platform to confront the conspiracies of America and its allies against Muslims.

VEHARI: Various political parties, including Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal and Shabab-i-Milli, took out a rally in favour of Kashmiri freedom fighters.

Carrying banners and placards, the participants raised slogans against India. The rally, led by district Nazim Mumtaz Khichhi, started from the MC Chowk and terminated at the V Chowk after marching through main roads. A large number of school children were also among the participants.

SARGODHA: A rally was brought out from the Company Bagh whose participants took a round of the bazaars. It was addressed by the District Nazim Malik Amjad Ali Noon and DCO Hassan Iqbal and attended by a large number of people from all walks of life.

A photo exhibition was also held at the Sargodha Press Club to mark the occasion.
