Najam Ali appointed SMD head

ISLAMABAD, Feb 5: The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SEC) has appointed Najam Ali the executive director, Securities Market Division. Earlier he served as chief executive officer of the Central Depository Company (CDC) for over six years and it was during his tenure that the Central Depository System and the National Clearing and Settlement System were successfully implemented.

He also served as a director of Karachi Stock Exchange and the National Clearing Company. Before joining the CDC he worked with an investment bank at senior management positions.

Mr Ali is a member of the institutes of chartered accountants of England, Wales and Ontario, Canada.

He is an economics graduate of the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, USA.
