KARACHI, Feb 5: Sindh minister for local bodies, kachchi abadis and special development Mohammad Hussain on Wednesday ordered removal of encroachments and illegal constructions at Zero-Point on Mehran Highway in Landhi.
He issued these directives during his surprise visit to Landhi cattle colony on Wednesday.
He took the officials to task and drew their attention towards unauthorised and illegal constructions at the Zero Point on Mehran Highway. This double road has been closed by the land-grabbers. He ordered that the road be widened and it should be dualized by removing encroachments from the Zero Point.
He also reviewed the carpeting work on the road, leading to the Cattle Colony and ordered an inquiry by the Sindh Local Government Commission for misappropriation of government funds, use of low quality material and sub-standard construction.
A sum of Rs12 million was allocated for construction of this road.
On this occasion, he was informed that the Cattle Colony supplies 3,200,000 litres of milk, 10,000 maunds of beef and 8,000 maunds of mutton to Karachi city.
He expressed his displeasure over worst sanitary conditions in the area and directed the concerned officials that just after Eid-ul-Azha, they should start a 15-day cleanliness campaign so that heaps of garbage could be removed and the area should wear a tidy look.
He also went to the City Government Girls & Boys Primary School and assured that after consulting education authorities, additional teachers would be provided.
The minister specially directed the TMO Bin Qasim that the area allocated for park should be free from encroachments and assured the people that their just problems would be redressed shortly.
The President of Karachi Cattle Workers Association Malir, Riaz Din alias Munna Bhai and Hasan Ali, met the minister in the Cattle Colony and apprised him of the problems confronting the residents of Bakra Piri.
He assured them that all their problems and issues would be resolved soon.—PPI
