Animal prices shoot up

By Our Correspondent

SWABI, Feb 3: The prices of sacrificial animals have shot up sharply owing to shortage of animals in the local markets.

The prevailing situation indicates that the prices of these animals would register a further rise before Eidul Azha, as the number of animals arriving the market has shrunk.

They said cows and buffaloes put on sale for Rs9000 a fortnight ago are being sold at Rs15,000 and even more. The traders often bring cows and buffaloes animals from Punjab, while smaller animals like goats and sheep come from Fata and Afghanistan.
