Two POs hurt in encounter

FAISALABAD, Feb 2: Tandlianwala police claimed on Sunday to have arrested two proclaimed offenders after a two-hour encounter at Chak 593-GB.

On a tip-off, the team headed by SHO Muhammad Zafar raided a hideout at the chak. The outlaws opened fire on the raiders, who retaliated and traded fire for two hours, injuring POs Kausar alias Kausri and Saeed.

The police said the POs were involved in various incidents of robberies and other crimes. They shifted the injured to a hospital.

Rs500,000 looted: Robbers on Sunday drove away with two two-wheelers and snatched Rs500,000 from a trader in separate incidents in the district.

Reports said local yarn market trader Zeeshan Ahmad was returning home with Rs500,000 in cash when two armed men stopped him on the Faisalabad-Satiana Road. They snatched cash and mobile phone from the trader and fled.
