KARACHI: Jan 31: Rallies were held outside mosques after Jumma prayers in different parts of the city against discriminatory registration laws for Pakistanis living in the US, the possible US aggression on Iraq, and the statement of the US Ambassador in Karachi and interference of the FBI.

The rallies held in response to an appeal of the Muttahida Majlise Amal and Jamaat-i-Islami’s week of Ummah’s unity. These were addressed by MMA leaders Dr Mairaj-ul-Huda Siddiqui, Mohammad Aslam Mujahid, Hafiz Mohammad Taqi, Mohammad Hussain Mehanti and Syed Salahuddin.

The participants raised slogans to express solidarity with Muslims in Iraq, Kashmir and Palestine and condemning the US, India, and Israel.

The speakers and participants of the rallies urged the government of Pakistan not to adopt a cowardice or apologetic attitude and take a bold stand to manifest the feelings and aspirations of the people.

They said that the US had become a biggest threat to the world peace.

They flayed the rulers who, they said, had put national sovereignty and solidarity of the country at stake by aligning themselves with the US who is not a friend of any country, but of its vested interest.

They said that the US attack on Iraq would leave the whole world on the verge of destruction and urged the permanent members of UN Security Council to play their due role to avert the US aggression.
