Afghan schools to have syllabus soon
ISLAMABAD, Jan 29: The Afghan embassy is keen to make a uniform and up to date syllabus for all the Afghan educational institutes set up in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, sources told Dawn.
Currently, there are nearly 25 independent institutes working in the twin cities to impart education to the refugee children. These institutes have wide disparity in the syllabi with some having up to date courses, while the others following the outdated courses.
The embassy has already launched a survey and the officials are visiting these institutes to assess the standard of their education. It was learnt that the syllabus of Kabul University would be introduced here, as all the institutes would be soon linked with the university.
The move is being taken to facilitate the children studying here to tackle any difficulty in case of their repatriation. The Ministry of Education of Pakistan is collaborating with the Afghan embassy in this connection to restructure the syllabi of these institutes on the desired pattern.
The introduction of one syllabus in all the institutes will go a long way towards integrating the Afghan society and abating ethnic or linguistic hatred. —Junaid Bahadur
