KARACHI, Jan 29: The anti-encroachment department of Saddar Town on Wednesday removed and confiscated a large number of fruit and vegetable stalls, cabins, and push carts during its anti-encroachment operation.

Encroachments were removed from S.M. Law College, Mohammed Bin Qasim Road, Fruit and Meat Street and Fresco Chowk.

The seized cabins etc were deposited in the store and the illegal RCC stalls were dismantled with the help of machines.

People residing in the congested Burnes Road areas have been facing problems because of these encroachments, which were impeding the traffic flow also.

Taking notice of this situation, the Sindh ombudsman had issued directive to the Town Nazim for initiating action against the encroachments.

Town Nazim Farooq Memon Fariya assigned a special task to the staff concerned and this operation was launched by the land department under the supervision of Town Officer for Municipal Regulation Zubair Mughal.

After the removal of these massive encroachments, the work on sanitation of the area was also started and road carpeting carried out on and emergency basis.

The Town Nazim later visited the area with Naib Nazim of UC-8 Asif Bombaywala, Siraj Gaddai and Shafi Gaddi.—APP
