KARACHI: Aptitude test for BCS course held

KARACHI, Jan 27: As many as 376 candidates appeared in an aptitude test on Monday for admission to Bachelor of Computer Science (BCS) classes in six government colleges in the city.

The merit and placement lists of candidates against 260 seats would be issued on Tuesday evening. In addition to display at colleges concerned, the lists would also be available at the website of the Sindh education department (www.sindhedu.gov.pk).

The BCS course is being introduced in colleges for the first time this year, while two other colleges in the province have already started the programme.

In all, 123 applications were received at the DJ Science College centre, while 95 at the Govt Degree College, Stadium Road.

The number of applications received at other four colleges is: National College - 75; Commerce and Economics College - 24; Sir Syed Girls College - 65; and Khurshid Girls College - 11.

The 90-minute test comprised 100 MCQs in English, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and general knowledge and was conducted by a private college of business management education.

The merit lists would be based on weightage of marks obtained by the applicants in the test (50%), HSC examinations (40%) and SSC examinations (10%), said sources in the Sindh education department.

A total of 393 students had applied for admission to different colleges, mentioning their priority of institutions. The DJ Science College, Commerce College and the Govt College have planned to run the programme for boy and girl students simultaneously.
