Khuhro fears governor rule in Sindh

HYDERABAD, Jan 26: The leader of the opposition in the Sindh Assembly and president, Pakistan People’s Party (Sindh), Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, has said that all attempts aimed at imposing governor’s rule in Sindh province would be foiled.

He was speaking to newsmen at a reception in Hashmi Colony, which was organized by Aftab Khanzada in PS-49 Saturday night.

He said that controversies over petty differences were being cited the main reasons for imposing governor’s rule. He further said that his party would resist all such attempts as it had faced governor’s rule earlier for three years as well.

He said that an overwhelming majority of people had expressed confidence in the PPP but the rulers had thrust a fragile coalition government over the people of Sindh.

Mr Nisar said that the government could not solve the basic problems of the people because the ministers were engaged in a war for portfolios, perks, and vehicles.

He stated that those who were ruling over Sindh could not realize the miseries of the people.

He was of the view that the PML-Q’s coalition government could not plead the case of Sindh province before the centre notwithstanding the fact that the Sindh government had admitted that the Centre had caused a loss of Rs800 million in five years to Sindh.

He pointed out that the life of the people had been paralysed because of joblessness and lawlessness in the country, adding that currently 34 per cent people were jobless.

Mr Nisar said that in other civilized countries people were adjusted in jobs through social security.

He expressed surprise that Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad had promulgated an ordinance against the extortion.

He said that MPA Imtiaz Sheikh was being made a scapegoat and he would not be inducted in the Sindh cabinet, adding that the Sindh Chief Minister was a powerless chief executive of the province.

MPAs Sassui Palejo, Ghulam Qadir Chandio, Fahreen Mughal, and Aftab Khanzada also spoke on the occasion.
