GUJRANWALA, Jan 26: Three people were killed while over 30 were injured when six vehicles collided with one another due to fog on GT Road in Kamoki and Rahwali on Sunday.

A Rawalpindi-bound bus hit a stationary truck along the road from behind after striking a police wagon near Kamoki. Meanwhile, another bus hit the truck, police wagon and the bus from behind.

As a result, Suleman Ahmad and Muhammad Afzal of the Rawalpindi-bound bus died on the spot while around two dozen passengers of both the buses were injured.

Three police constables were also injured.

The condition of the injured was stated to be critical at the DHQ Hospital.

Nauroz Ahmad of Talwandi Khajoorwali died while around a dozen others were injured when two public transport vehicles collided with each other on GT Road near Rahwali.

The injured were admitted to a local hospital where their condition was stated to be critical.

Police were investigating.steps taken: The City Tehsil Council has taken steps against the landgrabbers for occupying official land worth Rs15 million.

The former municipal corporation had purchased about 31 acres of land with a sum of Rs5 million along the Katchi Pumpwali for setting up a zoo some two years ago. In addition, at least Rs10 million were spent on levelling the land after throwing earth there. However, the project could not be initiated due to some reasons. Taking advantage of the situation, the landgrabbers occupied various pieces of land and constructed their houses and commercial units.

Taking a serious note, City Nazim Babu Javed Ahmad convened an emergent meeting and decided that the land would be got vacated from the landgrabbers at any cost.

He directed land manager Maqsoodul Hassan and assistant land manager Arif Mahmood Butt to get the official land identified with the help of revenue patwaris and eject the landgrabbers from there.

When the land managers started the ejection process some influential people began making hurdles with the support of corrupt revenue officials. However, the city tehsil council have sought help from the district coordination officer in this regard.

BARRED: The shepherds have been barred from selling sacrificial animals along the city roads and fixed sale points by the city tehsil council.

This decision was taken at a meeting held here on Sunday which was presided over by City Nazim Babu Javed Ahmad. All senior officers of the tehsil council were also present on the occasion.

The meeting was told that shepherds sold sacrificial animals along the GT Road and other roads, making the city ugly.

The meeting fixed the sale points at Slaughter House on the Sheikhupura Road, Farid Town Chowk, Baghbanpura Chowk, Hafizabad Road, Dhulley Chowk, Gondlanwala Road, Climaxabad, GT Road, Khiali By-pass Intersection, Sialkot By-pass Intersection and Rawalpindi By-pass Intersection.

SUICIDES: Two women committed suicide in Baghbanpura and Garjakh areas on Sunday.

According to reports, Shamim and Rifat had scuffled with their husbands over house expenditure. Both the women allegedly took poison and died on the way to the civil hospital.
