ISLAMABAD: HEC approves Rs35m project for Balochistan varsity

ISLAMABAD, Jan 25: The Departmental Development Working Party (DDWP) of Higher Education Commission (HEC) has approved a project to set up a instrumentation centre at University of Balochistan, Quetta, at a cost of about Rs35 million.

According to a press release, the project was approved in a high-level meeting of the DDWP, which was presided over by the HEC executive director, S. M. Hassan.

The main objective of the project is to promote and facilitate advancement of science and technology.

It will enhance accessibility to sophisticated equipment for research in science and technology besides offering advanced laboratory facilities to scientists of the university.

The centralized resource instrumentation centre will provide facilities for specialized research in the disciplines of botany, chemistry, biochemistry, geology, pharmacy, physics, zoology and geography.

At least 40 M.Phil and 12 PhD students, scholars and 137 faculty members will benefit form the centre.

Meanwhile, a 3-day high-level meeting of HEC’s National Curriculum Revision Committee (NCRC) for the discipline of agriculture chemistry concluded at the HEC campus in Islamabad.
