ISLAMABAD, Jan 18: Means and ways to maximize the potential in a human being and channelize it properly remained the focal point of the talk titled “Subliminal Human Development” held at HRD Network here on Saturday.

The speaker, M. Abdul Wahid, spoke at length about the subliminal transformation of human resources. He said generally a man used 0.09 per cent of his potential while the rest remained untapped.

Giving the reason, he said: “The minimal use of potential is because his perception, association, power of evaluation and decision are shaped in a certain way.”

He said all possible efforts must be made to utilize the other 99 per cent of a man’s mental faculties. However, he admitted that it could not be achieved very easily.

“The only way out is to make his subconscious react differently to his environment,” he added.

Mr Wahid also discussed scotomas, a sensory locking out of environment caused by prior conditioning. Scotomas is the characteristic and driving force in the high performers, he added.

He was of the view that scotomas helped individuals become analytical and skeptical and at the same time open-minded and creative. He disagreed with the general perception that elitist education acquired at expensive institutes could develop a young and impressional mind into a super-achiever person.

“I don’t deem elitist education necessary for attaining excellence at workplace,” he said.
