By Our Staff Reporter

RAWALPINDI, Jan 13: One person was shot and injured, while cash and other valuables were looted in two robberies on Monday, police said.

In the first incident, robbers entered the house of Bashir Ahmed in Saidpur. When Bashir tried to overpower them, the robbers shot and injured him. They then escaped from the scene along with the valuables. The injured Bashir was shifted to the hospital where he is stated to be in critical condition.

The value of the looted items is yet to be ascertained.

In the other incident, two youngmen stormed into a chemist shop near Shamasabad and snatched Rs3,000 from its cashier at gunpoint.

HAND GRENADES SEIZED: Police arrested three persons and seized hand grenades from their possession on Chakri Road on Monday.

The police said a car (RIH-8265) coming from Rawalpindi was signalled to stop at Chakri Road picket. While searching the vehicle, the police found two hand grenades. The three men were arrested and an FIR lodged against them.

The three accused, who belong to Peshawar, are being interrogated to ascertain the motive behind carrying the explosives.

SIX FAINT: Six persons were shifted to Holy Family Hospital when they fell unconscious after drinking tea in a hotel near Faizabad on Monday.

According to police, six persons — Syed Khalid Hussain Shah, Syed Hameed Hussain Shah, Syed Ibrar Hussain Shah, Syed Irfan, Syed Imran and Sheraz Chaudhry — were staying at a hotel when a travelling agent, who was arranging their visas, offered them tea that was mixed with some intoxicating substance. After they fell unconscious, the agent escaped with their money.

The hotel staff called the police after they found them unconscious in a room. The victims were shifted to hospital where they are said to be in stable condition.
