LAHORE, Jan 12: Fancied bay filly Democracy, outclassed all its rivals to win the feature event of the Lahore Winter Meeting run over a mile at the Racecourse on Sunday.

The filly who is by Cisco Wells out-of-Let Get Going ran on bravely after heading into straight and won comfortably by eight and a half lengths from chestnut colt Lucky Shot. Blu’s Wendy stayed on well in the closing stages to finish third after being nosed out by Lucky Shot. Chestnut filly Royal Fantasy completed the frame, a distance further away.

The winner trained by Mohammed Bashir was piloted by riding boy A. Aziz and backed with confidence at half money favourite. This was the feature event and last race of the day.

A race earlier, blue roan gelding Millennium Count, showed an impressive turn of speed to beat fancied bay colt Flight Alert by over four lengths to capture the supporting event run over a mile. Great King finished third , another two and a quarter lengths back with Shannel completing the frame by a distance among seven runners.

Riding boys A Aziz and A. Imran shared the day’s riding honours by bringing in a brace of winners each. The former rode home Feel The Freedom in the opener and Democracy in the feature and last race while the later strode long shot Silver Charm in the second and Blue Dawn in the fourth race. Trainer Amjad Ali II saddled two winners in Feel The Freedom and Prime Force in the first and third race, respectively. This combination also earned a rich double for owner Sohrab Khan.
