Man killed in shelling

By Our Staff Correspondent

MUZAFFARABAD, Jan 8: A man was killed and a woman and a minor boy were wounded in Neelum valley of Azad Kashmir overnight on Tuesday in Indian shelling from across the Line of Control, officials said on Wednesday.

The casualties occurred in the upper belt of the valley, which runs along the LoC in northeast of Muzaffarabad, and has been an all-time target of Indian shelling.

A military spokesman told reporters that shelling began in the valley on Tuesday and killed a man and injured a woman and an 8-year-old boy in the village of Lawat, some 103km, late night.

Shelling stopped past midnight, and resumed on Wednesday morning, targeting the villages in the upper belt, he added.
