74 killed in Turkish plane crash

DIYARBAKIR (Turkey), Jan 8: At least 74 people were killed when a Turkish Airlines passenger plane on a domestic flight crashed in southeastern Turkey on Wednesday, officials and witnesses said.

“Apart from the five who have been reported injured it may be that the others have died,” a senior police official said.

A hospital source in the city of Diyarbakir told newsmen five bodies had already been brought to the hospital.

“Unfortunately, some passengers burned to death,” Transport Minister Binali Yildirim told reporters.—Reuters
