LAHORE, Jan 8: Five goals by Saqib Khakwani helped ACOBA to earn a narrow 6 1/2-5 win against Millat Tractors in the 6-12 Goals Cup polo on Wednesday.

ACOBA  made a flying start and led 4 1/2-1 till the second chukker. Millat Tractors retaliated scoring four goals  in the remaining two chukkers against two of the winners but eventually lost the match.

ACOBA,  having a half goal on the handicap extended the  lead when Umar Sadik converted a 60 yard penalty hit.

Saqib scored his first goal crowning a field effort in the dying minute of the first  chukker and  added his second in the beginning of the second, capitalising a 30-yard penalty hit.

Samiullah who  banged home four goals for the losers struck the first in the  second chukker. But Saqib was again on the target to score his third goal increasing the lead to 4 1/2-1.

In  the  third chukker, Samiullah scored two goals  and  his compatriot Kamran Nooruddin a goal to reduce the lead. But  Saqib scored two more goals to again put ACOBA ahead 6 1/2-4.

Samiullah caused a scare for ACOBA by scoring  his fourth goal in the last chukker but it was not enough.

Askari Waters led Master Paints 6-4 1/2 on the first day. The next four chukkers’ play will be played on Friday.

Atif Yar Tiwana and Arslan Najib scored two goals  apiece while  Ahmad Ali Tiwana and Taimur Mawaz Khan added a  goal  each for the Askari.
