ISLAMABAD, Jan 7: Pakistan’s Safeer Khan claimed the Junior British Open Squash Championship under-19 title Monday with Yasir Butt emerging the under-17 champion and Amir Atlas picking up the under-13 crown.

Safeer had to play the match of his life in overcoming the challenge of Dutchman Daylan Bennet 9-0, 0-9, 9-7, 8-10, 10-9 in what was an engrossing final.

The under-17 decider, an all-Pakistan affair, saw Yasir taking the match in straight games against Farhan Mahboob 9-7, 9- 2, 10-8.

The task for Amir in the under-13s was even more easier as he ruthlessly swept aside Egyptian Ahmed Havas 9-1, 9-2, 9-1 in quick time to complete a rewarding tournament for Pakistan.

Earlier in the semifinal, Amir had beaten Egypt’s Mohamed El Shorbagy 9-2, 9-1, 9-2 but Adnan Khan had gone down to Havas 8- 10, 7-9, 6-9.
