TAXILA, Jan 6: Faisal Iqbal, who was contesting the by-polls as an independent candidate from PP-8, has joined People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPP).

Meanwhile, former MPA and PPP candidate from the same constituency, Shaikh Mohammad Anwar, has decided to withdraw from the contest.

Mr Iqbal had also contested the October 10 general elections as an independent candidate but lost the elections.

According to the party sources, the decision was made after a rift among the party’s local leaders over allotment of party ticket to a disputed leader.

It is the second time that the PPP has changed its candidate for the by-polls.
