HYDERABAD, Jan 6: The Sazda employees held a demonstration outside the press club here on Monday against the delay in providing them alternate jobs.

The leaders of the Sazda Employees Action Committee, Zafar Solangi and others, told journalists the Sindh government notification of Nov 12, under which the Sazda employees had to be absorbed in other departments, was not being implemented.

They alleged the implementation of the notification for adjustment of Sazda employees in other departments was being delayed because the bureaucracy, at the instance of its political masters, wanted to accommodate their favourite people at the vacant posts.

They pledged to resist the move and threatened to commit self-immolation if the government notification was not implemented immediately.

They demanded of the Sindh governor, the chief minister and the chief secretary to implement the notification without further delay to end unrest among the workers.

HUNGER STRIKE: About one dozen former employees of the Fateh Apparel and the Fateh Weaving Mills continued their hunger strike for the 18th consecutive day on Monday outside the local press club.

Talking to journalists, the chairman of the workers action committee, Shafiquddin, warned if the workers were not paid their dues, they would observe a hunger strike outside the bungalow of the owners of the factories.
