PESHAWAR, Jan 4: The special judge anti-narcotics, Abdur Rehman Khan, here on Saturday convicted a drug pusher and sentenced him to life imprisonment with a fine of Rs1,00,000.

The court observed that the prosecution had proved its case against the accused and there was no doubt that he had committed the offence.

The convict, Chinar Gul, was arrested by the officials of Anti-Narcotics Force in 1999 in Peshawar. The ANF had recovered from his possession 180 kilograms of charas and 5 kilograms of opium.

The ANF claimed that he belonged to a gang of drug traffickers and was smuggling narcotics to Punjab.

Killers Convicted: The court of additional district and sessions judge, Khwaja Wajihuddin, convicted two persons for lifting a vehicle and killing a person, and sentenced them to ten years rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs5,000 each.

The accused — Nawab and Ijaz, residents of Adezai, Mathani — had stopped a Datsun pick-up by force and killed its driver, Khan Zaman, on resistance. They took away the vehicle. The incident had occurred on Jan 8, 2001, in the jurisdiction of Badabher police station.

Later on, the two accused were arrested. They were charged under section 17 (4) of Offence Against Property (Enforcement of Hudood) Ordinance, 1979.
