No foreign troops’ raid allowed: Rashid

ISLAMABAD, Jan 3: Maj-Gen Rashid Qureshi, spokesman to the President and DG-ISPR, said on Friday Pakistan government had not allowed raids to be carried out by foreign troops inside Pakistan territory.

He was commenting on news reports about US forces’ hot pursuit in Pakistan and the implication that Pakistan had allowed raids inside Pakistan.

Commenting further, Rashid said there had been very close cooperation and coordination between US forces operating on the Afghan side of the border and Pakistani security forces on the Pakistani side.

“There is continuous exchange of information and intelligence.

However, only Pakistani security forces and troops operate in Pakistani territory,” he emphatically said.

Clarifying the confusion, he explicitly said that “all actions taken within Pakistani borders were and will be taken only by Pakistani forces.”—APP
