Faisalabad and Karachi advance to main round

LAHORE, Jan 3: Karachi and Faisalabad qualified for the final round of the 50th national hockey championship on Friday. Karachi and Faisalabad play final on Sunday to decide the top team.

Imran Khan, who slammed five goals including a hat trick helped Karachi rout Sukkur 9-0.

Tariq opened the account in the 12th minute, and Iftikhar scored in the 23rd minute. Imran struck four times in the 24th, 25th, 33rd and the 45th minute. Adeel Hussain netted in the 47th and the 52nd minute. Imran completed the tally.

Five goals by Aamir Sahi guided Faisalabad to 17-0 win over Kalat.

Aamir struck in the 9th, 24th, 28th, 57th and 60th minute. Riaz scored in the 5th, 14th and the 36th minute. Shahbaz (3rd minute and 25th) Shahid Tariq (6th and 47th minute) and Imtiaz Ahmad (7th and 55th minute) and Shahzad Anjum (48th and 64th minute) netted two goals each. Mohammad Rafique banged home in the 68th minute.

Hazara drew with Swat 0-0.
