KARACHI, Jan 3: Defending champions Karachi Whites were facing an uphill battle after Group-II leaders Allied Bank Limited ABL) amassed 365 for eight in their first innings on the second day of the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy fixture at National Stadium on Friday.
Replying to hosts’ paltry 195, the bankers added 295 to their overnight total of 70 for two. They now lead by 170 runs with two wickets still intact.
On bright and sunny day, ABL were well served by Ijaz Ahmed Jr (66 off 123 balls, six fours), Naved Latif (71 off 73 balls, 13 fours) and Aamir Hanif, who is unbeaten on a 111-ball 74 that has so far included 12 boundaries.
Earlier, opener Bilal Asad added 18 more to his Thursday’s score of 39. His 57 off 111 balls was laced with eight hits to the fence.
Pacer Owais Athar bowled manfully to return respectable figures of three for 88 on a forgetful day for Karachi Whites.
