HYDERABAD, Dec 30: The residents of Liaquat Medical University Colony held a sit-in at its Chowk on Monday in protest against the baton-charged by the police on Sunday.

They were protesting against the arrests of several demonstrators who were holding a demonstration against the disconnection of Sui gas to their colony.

On the call of the Jamshoro Ittehad, a shutter-down strike was observed in Shahi Bazaar, Jamshoro.

A large number of political activists, social workers, and businessmen took out a procession from the Jamshoro Press Club. They were led by the former deputy speaker of the Sindh Assembly, Syed Jalal Mehmood Shah.

After marching through various areas, they joined the protesting residents of the Liaquat Medical University Colony at its Chowk.

Later, many residents including women and children took out a procession all the way upto the press club. Later, under the leadership of Mr Shah, they held a sit-in at the main gate of the university.
