PESHAWAR, Dec 27: The capital city police chief, Tanveerul Haq Sipra, has suspended an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Bhadabher Police Station on the charge of keeping two persons in illegal detention.

Sipra has also directed departmental action against the ASI, Mohammad Aziz.

Few days back an inhabitant of Peshawar, Humayun, had lodged a complaint with the chief capital city police (CCCP), stating that while returning from a marriage party in Kohat along with a friend, Tariq, a policeman asked them to stop near the Banda filling station.

The complainant alleged that the said ASI took them to a police station after their body search and kept them in illegal detention.

The CCCP appointed the SSP (Investigation), Khalid Habib, as inquiry officer in the case. After inquiry, the SSP held the ASI responsible for detaining the two persons without any reason.

The CCCP suspended him forthwith and directed the police force to treat all citizens in accordance with law.
