SUKKUR, Dec 21: A large number of people of the New Pind locality staged a protest demonstration on Saturday against the shortage of water.

The protesters, carrying banners and placards, arrived at the Race Course Road and the Gurdawara Chowk from where Sindh Chief Minister Ali Mohammad Mahar was to pass.

When the Chief Minister arrived there, the protesters told him the New Pind had not been supplied water for the last one month which had created a drought-like situation in the area.

The Chief Minister assured the protestors he would direct authorities concerned to ensue supply of water to their area.

The protestors later went to the office of the municipal engineer where they were given an assurance their problem would be resolved in the next 24 hours.
