PESHAWAR, Dec 21: The city police have planned to launch an operation against outlaws in the first week of January.
The order was issued by chief of the Capital City Police, Tanveer Sipra, to senior police officials during his first meeting after taking over his charge, said a press release issued here on Saturday.
Expressing serious concern over increase in the crime ratio, he asked the senior police officials to take stern action against the outlaws and eliminate social evils in the society.
Mr Sipra urged the station house officers to improve the law and order situation in their respective jurisdiction. There was no room for the inefficient cop in the police department, he added.
Taking strong exception of not registering FIRs, he warned that those SHOs who eschewed to register FIRs in an attempt to show his good performance, would be punished according to the state law.
#SEIZED:# The Anti-Narcotic Force seized a large quantity of narcotics and arrested four persons here on Saturday.
The ANF senior officials had a prior information about the attempt of narcotics smuggling to the Punjab by a notorious smuggler Saifur Rehman in the guise of journalist, said a press release.
Working on a tip-off, a team of ANF was formed, which erected barrier on the main Charsadda-Mardan Road. In the meantime, a Pajero jeep (LXD-995) was signalled to stop.
During thorough search of the jeep, the ANF team recovered seven monds of hashish and 5.5kg of opium from secret cavities in the floor and ceiling of the vehicle.
The ANF arrested Saifur Rehman, son of Gul Noor; his wife Salma and his brother Gul Faqir.
After the initial interrogation, the ANF team also raided the house of Saifur Rehman, situated in Jamshed Abad locality of Babu Ghari on Warsak Road, and also recovered a large quantity of fine quality heroin and hashish.
Saifur Rehman’s Imran was also arrested from the house. A case has been registered at the ANF police station and further investigations were continuing.
