KARACHI, Dec 19: Despite a lapse of considerable time, the University of Karachi, on Thursday, declared the incomplete results of MA (final) annual examinations 2001 for external candidates, with a pass percentage of 52.36.
Sources on the campus said that despite issuance of reminders to some of the examiners repeatedly, they failed to submit award lists of candidates. In its latest reminder, the examination department had asked the teachers to scrutinize the scripts and submit the awards, otherwise the results would be issued on Dec 19.
The vice-chancellor of the university was also kept abreast of the development, said an examination department official, adding that most of the examiners were from the university side.
It was learnt that as per examination department’s rule, teachers who fail to discharge their examination duties on time are normally debarred from examination works next time. It was learnt that over half-a-dozen examiners could not meet the requirement of the examination department.
A KU notification said that results of MA International Relations, Mathematics and Islamic History examinations would be announced later. Expressing his inability to give the exact date for announcement of the left-over results, an official said that he did not know whether the answer scripts had been assessed or not.
Source said the workload on teachers was enormous as only a limited number of teachers volunteered for the examination works. However, delay in the announcement of results certainly caused concern among the candidates and the university should look into the matter, they added.
