PESHAWAR: Cold forces Afghans into Pakistan

PESHAWAR, Dec 18: An increase in the illegal influx of Afghan refugees has been witnessed in recent days due to cold weather and lack of resources in Afghanistan.

According to reports, strict security arrangements have been made at all the checkpoints, including Khapakh and Ghalanai check-posts at Mohmand Agency near the border with Afghanistan where authorities impose a heavy fine on vehicles carrying Afghan refugees from across the border.

Despite strict security arrangements, hundreds of Afghan refugees daily cross the border near Mohmand Agency and enter Pakistan. —PPI
