PESHAWAR: Bar bodies support call for protest demo

Bureau Report

PESHAWAR, Dec 14: The bar associations of Nowshera and Charsadda districts have extended support to the call for holding of a protest demonstration against the presence of FBI and other US agencies in Pakistan.

The call for the protest demonstration has been given by the Peshawar District Bar Association. The demonstration is scheduled to be held on Dec 23.

The president of the PDBA, Sher Afgan Khattak and general-secretary, Naeem Jam Malik, visited Nowshera and Charsadda on Friday to muster support for the scheduled demonstration. The PDBA delegation informed the office-bearers and members of both the associations about its concerns over the presence of US agencies in Pakistan, which was considered as a direct threat to the sovereignty of the country and its key installations including the nuclear programme.

The team requested the members of the two associations to fully participate in the demonstration. The members of the delegation informed Dawn that both the associations had expressed support to their cause and held out an assurance that they would participate in the demonstration.
