Progress on SNT projects reviewed

ISLAMABAD, Dec 10: A three-day annual meeting of Shimshal Nature Trust’s (SNT) Task Force held here from Dec 6-8 reviewed the pace of work on various community development, environmental, educational, cultural and eco-tourism projects, launched in the first phase of the Trust since its inception in 1997.

The meeting expressed satisfaction over the achievements made during the last three years in the community development, nature stewardship, preservation of environment and wildlife in the Shimshal Valley.

The meeting vowed to make concerted efforts in harnessing all indigenous as well as external resources for the betterment of the inhabitants of the valley.

The meeting discussed various aspects and the relevance of different programmes of the SNT in the light of the changed scenario and linkages with local and international partners. It was decided to initiate dialogue with international agencies and local NGOs for entering into any possible partnership in Mountain Areas Conservation Project.
