VEHARI, Dec 5: The Additional District and sessions judge, Mailsi, has accepted the bail application of Jahangir Tareen, main accused in the Sarwar Mai case, and ordered his release after the submission of Rs50,000 bail bond.

Jahangir’s counsel Malik Mushtaq and Rana Muhammad Ali in their arguments maintained that after the submission of affidavit, Sarwar Mai, her brother Karam Hussain Lakhat and an eye witness, it had been proved that Tareen was implicated in the case on political grounds.

Meanwhile, the Mailsi civil court has sent three accused — Muhammad Iqbal, Muhammad Asghar and Allah Rakha Barber to jail on 14-day judicial remand.

Sources said that the court accepted the bail after a patch-up between the Sarwar Mai and Jahangir Tareen on the intervention of some local influential.

SEEDS: Two Federal Seeds Certification Department (FSCD) inspectors aided by police recovered 250 bags of spurious wheat seed during raids on a ‘factory’ in F-block, Burewala.

There were complaints from farmers regarding the marketing of spurious seeds.

Khanewal FSCD inspectors Muhammad Ahmad and Tassawar Hussain, along with a police team, raided the seed store of Sheikh Khalil where his employees were busy packing wheat in Passco bags.

After seizing 250 bags of fake seeds, the inspectors sealed the remaining stocks. Sheikh Khalil Ahmed, the factory owner, manage his escape.
