PESHAWAR, Dec 4: With only a day or two left before Eid-ul-Fitr, the people have started packing their luggage and are proceeding to their home towns as, now-a-days, all roads go homeward.
Locally, the traditional routes of public transport also see a flurry of traffic as minibuses, coaches and rickshaws are being plied round-the-clock to ferry passengers to bus terminals and the Peshawar railway station.
Already, buses and coaches full of passengers are leaving from terminals of the city, including Haji Camp, G.T. Road, Kohat Road and Charsadda Road.
A majority of government employees as well as those in the private sector, who hail from distant places, have sought two days’ leave in advance to celebrate Eid with their near and dear ones.
Everyone, whether in the country or abroad, tries his level best to celebrate this festival with their kith and kin with traditional zeal. People not only from the Middle East but from Europe, Far East and even from Canada and the USA come to their home towns to celebrate the festival. Peshawar airport is also experiencing great rush these days because flights full of passengers, particularly from the Middle East and Saudi Arabia, are reaching here.—APP
