SHIKARPUR, Dec 4: Federal Minister for Railways Ghous Bux Maher said on Tuesday announced provision of better railways facilities to the people of Shikarpur.

He was speaking at a dinner, hosted by the district Nazim, Mohammad Arif Khan Maher.

The facilities included halting of the Balochistan night coach train at the Shikarpur railway station besides addition of two more bogies in Sukkur Express and increasing the quota of seats for Shikarpur-bound passengers of the Shalimar Express.

Meanwhile, he said that the government was determined to improve the national economy and the living standard of the people.

He said that President Gen. Pervez Musharraf wanted to strengthen democratic process.

He urged the members of the parliament and the local bodies to support the policies introduced by President Gen Musharraf in the larger interest of the country.

SUKKUR: Three lower air-conditioned bogies will be added to the Sukkur Express and new locomotives will also be arranged, Federal Railway Minister Ghous Baksh Maher said the other day.

He was talking to a group of small traders.

He said a new rail car would be introduced to run between Sukkur and Hyderabad, and the duration of stoppage of the Sukkur Express would be reduced, adding that its timings would also be changed.

A delegation, led by the Naib Nazim, Iqbal Dawood, and the president of the Sukkur Small Traders Association, Haji Mohammad Haroon Memon met the railways minister at his residence.

The Naib Nazim apprised the minister about problems faced by the residents of Kutcha Abadis.
