Bombs found in mosque

By Our Reporter

KARACHI, Dec 2: A major disaster was averted on Monday in Orangi Town when bombs planted in a mosque were discovered before they could explode.

Police said that Mujeebur Rahman was sitting at Aitakaf in Rahmania Masjid in sector 13-G of Orangi Town. He saw a man entering the mosque where he performed ablution for prayers. But he did not offer prayers and left the mosque leaving behind a bag.

When people came for prayers at Zuhr time, Mujib informed them about the bag. Police were informed. A police party of Orangi Town police station arrived at the mosque. They found four boxes in the bag. Each box contained explosive devices weighing more than two kilogrammes.

Personnel of the Bomb Disposal Squad were called in who examined the explosive devices and ascertained that the bombs were locally made. They said that detonators and timers were also attached to the bombs, but battery was missing. They defused the bombs.

The four explosive devices would have caused a major disaster, if they had exploded.
