QUETTA, Nov 30: The election of the leader of the House in Balochistan Assembly would be held on Sunday.

Jam Mir Mohammad Yousaf as joint candidate of the GNA and the MMA and Mohammad Akbar Mengal of Balochistan National Party (Mengal- group) were contesting for the chief ministership of Balochistan.

Both the candidates have filed their nomination papers for the top slot with the secretary of the Assembly Mohammad Khan Mengal on Saturday evening.

After the election of the leader of the House the elected member would take an oath of chief minister of the province in an impressive ceremony which would be held at the Governors House in the afternoon.

The Governor of Balochistan Justice (Retd) Amirul Mulk Mengal would administer the oath to the new Chief Minister. Sources said that Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Jamli was likely to attend the oath taking ceremony. The newly elected chief minister would also take vote of confidence from the House on Monday, sources said.

It may be recalled here that according to the earlier programme the session of the Balochistan Assembly was scheduled for Tuesday for the election of the leader of the House. However, after the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker the newly elected Speaker Jamal Shah Kakar convened the session of the assembly on Sunday for the election of chief minister.

Jam Yousaf’s chances for winning the elelection is bright as he enjoys the support of 45 members of the Balochistan Assembly which include PML-QA 21, MMA 18 and GNA, 6.
