Minister to monitor power rates

ISLAMABAD, Nov 25: A spokesman for the ministry of water and power has said that Minister for Water and Power, Aftab Ahmad Sherpao, has assured that he is going to monitor the prices of electricity himself and will keep the interest of the consumers uppermost.

The spokesman has clarified a news item published in a section of the press regarding increase in electricity prices, saying that the raise was determined by Nepra before the present government took over.

The spokesman pointed out that the news item had already been carried by newspapers on Nov 21, 2002.—Correspondent
