PESHAWAR, Nov 25: President Gen Pervez Musharraf, in line with the powers vested in him under the Legal Framework Order (LFO), has summoned the NWFP Assembly’s session on Friday to elect the leader of the House.

A notification of the provincial assembly on Monday said that the president had ordered the convening of the session of the NWFP Assembly on Friday “for ascertainment of the member who commands the confidence of the majority of the members of the respective PA”.

The session, according to the notification, would immediately after electing the leader of the House would be prorogued.

The election of the leader of the House would follow the election of the speaker and deputy speaker on Wednesday.

The religious parties conglomerate, Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA), stood to be the single largest parliamentary group in the House of 124 members after having its 68 MPAs including 13 women representatives and one member elected against the seats reserved for minorities.
