KARACHI, Nov 22: Customs Academy registered their first victory in the 17th Karachi Gymkhana Callmate cricket festival beating A.O.CC 152 runs Friday.
In a game restricted to 22 overs per team due to Friday prayers, Customs on a run chasing spree, accumulated 272 for seven wickets with Azher Shafique slamming 75 runs in 47 balls with seven fours and two sixes.
Asif Iqbal cracking 49 runs with eight boundaries and a six in 23 deliveries, Talha Khan hammering 40 runs with six boundaries in 20 deliveries and Amir Bashir scoring 38 runs in 27 balls aided by four fours and one six.
For A.O.CC Aftab Ahmed two for 25, Ejaz Ahmed two for 60 and Nadeem Sheikh two for 84 were among the wickets.
A.O.CC were restricted to 120 for eight wickets in their 22 allotted overs. Only opener Saeed Sheikh hitting up 28 runs with five fours in 23 balls offered a semblance of a fight.
For the winners, Tasbish Nawab was the pick of the Customs attack, claiming three wickets for 11 runs. Shahid Mahmood chipped in with three for 33.
With this defeat A.O.CC have been ousted out of the tournament losing all their three matches in Group C. At the moment Airport Gymkhana are on of this Group with four points from two matches, followed by Dewan Sugar Mills also with four points but off three matches. Should Customs win on Saturday afternoon they too will have four points and the two teams with the highest average will got through to the quarter-finals. EAGLETS IN SEMIFINAL
Karachi Eaglets booked their place in the semifinal of the Sixth Nehal Siddiqui Ramazan cricket festival, beating Punjab CC by four wickets at the latter’s ground.
Batting first Punjab CC were bundled out for 127 runs in their 20 overs with Haider Ali top scoring with (27) and Arsalan Shaikh (20). Akhtar Hussain two for 21, Toqeer Khan two for 23 and Anwar Rasheed two for 35 did the damage.
Karachi Eaglets in reply scored 128 for six in 16.4 overs, with Asim Cheema stroking 57 runs with six boundaries, Kashif Hanif also batted well for 39 runs, Taimoor Khan bagged three for 18 and Azim Aziz two for 26.

AIRPORT STARS IN LAST 8
Total Energy and Airport Stars moved into the quarterfinal stage of the All Karachi Karimuddin Memorial Colour Kit Ramazan Festival cricket tournament beating Miandad Sports by six wickets and Malir Companion by seven wickets Friday.
Miandad Sports hit up 168 for eight in 20 overs through S.M. Raheel (44), Jibran Ahmed (31) and Abbas (27), with Tahir Afridi taking four for 33 and Kazim Rizvi two for 30.
Total Energy scored 169 for four in 18 overs.
In the other encounter, Malir Companion were skittled out for 108 with Nasir scoring 20. Arif Munir three for 19 and Burhan Butt three for 21 shared the bowling honours.
Airport Stars in reply hammered 118 for three in 11.2 overs with Shakeel Ahmed scoring 30 and Shakir Hussain 29. Ramzan Ali bagged two out of the three wickets that fell for 24 runs.
Agha, Imran power KESC
A dashing 71 by Agha Sabir coupled with some fine spin bowling by Imran Javed, enabled KESC register a 85-run triumph over Pak Gymkhana in the Eighth Tapal Trophy played Friday.
Winning the toss and deciding to bat first, KESC scored 190 for six wickets in their 20 allotted overs. Apart from Agha’s knock, Tariq Haroon weighed in with (30) and Shahid Dawood (24). Faisal Abbas claimed three for 17 for the fielding side.
Chasing 191 for victory, Pak Gymkhana were bundled out for 105 runs in 19.4 overs with Imran Nawaz fighting out a lone battle with 63. Imran Javed finished off with splendid figures of five for 26.

Customs coast home
Customs notched up a six- wicket success over Candyland in the Baqai Inter Academies Ramazan festival tournament played Friday.
Candyland having first use of the wicket, were dismissed for 103 in 18.4 overs with Waqas Haroon scoring 21. Azhar Shah three for 10, Asad Baig three for 19, Faizan Hussain two for 20 and Uzair-ul-Haq two for 24 shared the bowling spoils.
Customs replied with 107 runs for the loss of four wickets. Omair Najam top scored with 36. Asad Ali scored (25) and Shahid was unbeaten with 22 runs when victory came.
EXCITING TIE
Rangers Gymkhana and Southern Telecommunications Region (STR II), shared a point apiece, when their match in the Seventh Danish Trophy Ramazan tournament ended in an exciting tie Friday.
The highlight of the match however was the hurricane knock of 96 runs by Mohammad Zahid which came off 47 deliveries with six sixes and seven fours being his principal strokes.
Batting first STR II scored 180 for the loss of six wickets in their 18 allotted overs. Sadaqatullah (47), Khurram Siddiqui (43) and Shanul Haq (21), were among the runs. Shakeel Anwar picked up four wickets for 39 runs.
Chasing 181 runs for victory, Rangers took up the challenge with Zahid leading the way. Fourteen runs were needed in the last over which was cut down to a boundary with one ball remaining and two wickets to fall.
Humair Shafat who was unbeaten with 21 runs when victory came, hit the ball towards mid-wicket and the batsmen ran three runs to take Rangers to 180 for eight for the match to end in a tie. Haris Jawed was the other scorer for Rangers with 24 runs. Khurram Siddiqui grabbed three wickets for 28 for STR II.

SECOND WIN FOR ASIAN CC
Asian CC beat Saddar Town CC by five wickets in the Ford & Lord Trophy Ramazan cricket tournament played Friday.
Saddar Town batting first scored 143 all out in 20 overs with Rehmatullah the top scorer with 67 runs. Siraj Khan hit up 34. Ijlal Hussain three for 19 bowled well for Asian CC.
The winners in reply reached 145 for five in 18 overs with Ashfaq Ahmed (40), Imran Khan (29) and Noman Rafiq (25), making victory possible. Haq Nawaz picked up two for 23 for the losers.
