Computerized arms licences project launched

ISLAMABAD, Nov 20: Interior Minister Moinuddin Haider on Wednesday inaugurated the pilot project for issuance of computerized arms licences at the Interior Ministry.

Initially the project is being introduced in the capital and after success it will be expanded at provincial and district headquarters level.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said the ministry had launched a number of projects and hoped that the new government would pursue them.

Earlier, Joint Secretary Khalid Masood in his briefing said the ministry had computerised around 100,000 licences of prohibited and non-prohibited bore. All these licences were issued by the ministry itself, he added.—APP
